The Valentine’s Day Cup is scheduled to take place on February 11, 2012 at the beautiful Bambarra Beach.

The event celebrates traditional sail boat models and is put on yearly by the Middle Caicos Sailing Association. Of course it would not be complete without music, dancing, dominoes and delicious native food.

Putting some final tweaks and touches on Team TCR's boat to give us the edge!

I checked in at the front desk with Lynco at about 5pm and headed straight for my room which was a Deluxe Studio Suite. The 2nd floor suite had a king sized bed, sitting area, washer and dryer and a furnished balcony overlooking the pool.

Since I live on the island, it’s very rare that I get to take advantage of the beauty and tranquility of Grace Bay Beach, so I was very excited to be a tourist in my own home. On the phones, I’m often asked how far the grocery store is from the resorts.  I’ve driven the distance numerous times but now in my role as a visitor, I decided to

venture out to the IGA Gourmet by foot and was happy to find out that it was an easy 12 minute stroll.  I picked up some items so we could have dinner on the private balcony and we were rewarded with an amazing view.

After dinner I chilled in the hot tub under the moon light. I actually had the entire pool area to myself as most people were headed out to dinner.  After hot tubing outside, I decided to check out the tub in my suite – it was so huge I felt I could fall asleep in it!   Continuing with my “due diligence” I tried out the internet connection.   It was great and I was actually even able to get some work done!  Having enjoyed the many amenities the resort has to offer, I easily fell asleep peacefully on the most comfortable bed.

I was up early the next morning to not miss a minute enjoying the world’s best beach. I wasn’t very surprised to see that there were other people relaxing on lounge chairs and towels even at 8am! (Tip: once you come down from the boardwalk turn left to find the Villa Del Mar loungers and towel booth.)

While at the beach I met Kerone who gave me beach towels and reminded that I could order drinks if needed.

I enjoyed reading beachside for a while then I stopped by the pool bar to get breakfast. The spread consisted of bagels, pastries, fruits, cereals, juices and yogurts. I made coffee in my room and also had some microwavable oatmeal packets I took along with me. The suite also had more dishes than I needed and soap to wash them.

I snuck in a little more pool time (and met a really nice couple who were vacationing for the first time) before it was time to check out at 11am.

I don’t take it for granted that I actually live in paradise. Grace Bay beach is my back yard.. how amazing is that!

Shack in Blue Hills?  We had the great pleasure of breaking bread (well, actually conch) with our friends over at Villa del Mar Resort while sipping on some drinks, enjoying the ambiance, taking in Stanley Roots live reggae and feeling the sands beneath our toes.

Every type of conch dish was laid out in front of us including cracked conch, conch fritters, curried conch, and conch salad.

Just so happened that the new TV reality show VH1 – Baseball Wives were there filming that night, so there was extra energy all around (ya, there were lots of drinks!).

Even though Providenciales is so small, it’s still sometimes a challenge to find time to get to know each other better, so we really enjoyed being able to learn more about the people that make Villa del Mar one of Grace Bay’s best option in it’s category.
