TURKS AND CAICOS TRAVEL INSIGHTS...

The inside scoop on travel to the Turks and Caicos Islands

The Turks and Caicos Islands have emerged as a favorite destination on the Caribbean vacation scene in the past 10 years, offering a wide range of accommodations and amenities built discreetly into breathtaking natural beauty. Anchored by a white sandy beach that is second to none, the islands offer a classic Caribbean getaway combined with world class luxury.

Grace Bay Beach

The islands are an overseas territory of the United Kingdom (yes, we drive on the left!), but have a distinctive and charming Caribbean culture. You might enjoy an afternoon tea at one of our finely appointed beachfront hotels, and then find yourself swaying to the sounds of our famous rake-and-scrape bands at night

Despite the luxurious development, travel to the Turks and Caicos still feels a bit like a place time forgot, especially as you wander from the main island of Providenciales and explore islands like North Caicos, Middle Caicos and Grand Turk. Even on the tourism center of Providenciales (Provo), you can often find yourself virtually by yourself along the pristine Grace Bay Beach, enjoying a unique solitude long since disappeared from other Caribbean islands.

The islands are safe and friendly, and feature a variety of activities and attractions. The atmosphere is casual, and the people welcoming.

Most of the islands’ accommodations are on the island of Providenciales, which is where the main international airport is located as well. “Provo,” as it is known, offers all the modern conveniences vacationers could want, but still maintains an unhurried pace. Hotels, resorts, villas and condos rim the 8-mile stretch of Provo’s north shore and most offer fine dining, beachfront bars, a variety of water sports, full service spas and small boutique shops. If you're thinking of hosting a conference here, host a conference that people will remember at the new Regent Village Conference Center in Grace Bay.  On the more residential south shore, picturesque villas with stunning views are available for rent. Most include a full service management agency that can cater to your every need.

The other inhabited islands are Pine Cay, Parrot Cay, North Caicos, Middle Caicos, South Caicos, Salt Cay and our capital Grand Turk. Each offers something unique for visitors, and have a variety of accommodations. Ambergris Cay is home to the Turks & Caicos Sporting Club, a private residential club.

WHATAREPEOPLESAYING?
I was moments away from booking a hotel and stumbled upon turksandcaicosreservations.tc. I chatted with Val and he booked my stay, saved an additional $700 and got a better resort that I was going to book! Knowing I have a local person to contact for advice is really comforting.
